We often get asked many different questions about Invisalign. To help save you time and to prepare you for your Invisalign consultation, here are some of the most common questions we receive about Invisalign.

Why Do So Many Patients Love Invisalign?

Invisalign is very popular because of the many benefits it offers. The clear plastic aligners are nearly invisible and have no food restrictions because they are meant to be removed each time you eat or drink.

Invisalign is a straightforward treatment option. Since you get all of your trays on your second visit, you are in charge of changing them out, limiting your trips to our office. They are also more comfortable than most other treatment options.

Is Invisalign Right For Me?

Many people don’t fully understand how the Invisalign treatment works. Because of this, they think it won’t help them much or that it’s not a strong enough treatment plan for their needs.

Invisalign is a powerful corrective treatment system that is comfortable, non-invasive, and convenient. Invisalign can fix most problems with spacing issues and bite or teeth misalignments. No matter how active your lifestyle is, Invisalign is an excellent option.

How Often Do I Wear My Aligners?

You must wear each set of aligners for at least 20-22 hours daily. It is best if you only take them off when you have to brush your teeth or eat and drink.

How Long Does Treatment Last?

Once you come to your first appointment and we make a digital impression of your smile, we send the mold to Invisalign for them to make your trays. Each tray changes your teeth in subtle ways, moving them to the desired placement throughout treatment.

Once your trays come in, we help fit your first tray, talk about the process, and meet every few weeks to check on your treatment. Meanwhile, you change your trays every few weeks to correct your teeth in incremental ways.

Overall, treatment takes an average of 9-18 months but may take more or less time depending on the severity of your needs.

How Do I Keep My Invisalign Aligners Clean?

Keeping your aligners clean is essential for proper oral hygiene and treatment. When you remove the aligners to brush your teeth, brush the aligners and rinse them with warm water. Cleaning the aligners will remove any buildup of bacteria or food particles in the trays.

What Happens After Treatment?

Once you make it through all of your aligners and are happy with your smile, you will wear a retainer full-time for a few months to keep your teeth where they are. Then, you can switch to only wearing your retainer at night while you sleep.

If you don’t wear your retainer, your teeth could return to their original position and undo all of the work you’ve put into your smile.
