What Is the AcceleDent Hands-Free Device?
AcceleDent is a Food and Drug Administration approved device. The clinically proven device uses a technology called soft pulse to accelerate the movement of teeth by up to 50-percent.
AcceleDent has been on the market for about a decade. Today, it’s one of the most sought-after devices among patients. You’d use the device along with your orthodontic treatment.
AcceleDent works with an array of orthodontic equipment. This equipment may include metal braces, clear aligners, or Invisalign.
Imagine that the orthodontists develop a treatment plan that lasted approximately a year. With AcceleDent, you might reduce that time by half.
The device is nonsurgical and noninvasive. Furthermore, it’s a remarkably effective way to decrease discomfort.
The AcceleDent mouthpiece connects to an activator. It’s the activator that provides the vibrating action.
AcceleDent’s soft pulse technology gently stimulates your jawbone and teeth. This action encourages the movement of your teeth and faster adjustment.
The device creates a vibration that’s 200 times less forceful than chewing. The sensation is even less intense than an electric toothbrush.
The device is lightweight, user-friendly, and comfortable. By using it only 20 minutes a day, you can promote faster tooth movement. From beginning to end, the process is comfortable and hassle-free.
You may want to use the device longer during each session to increase the rate of movement of your teeth. However, doing so isn’t recommended. There’s no evidence that suggests using the device for more than 20 minutes per day provides any additional benefit.
How Does AcceleDent Work?
The AcceleDent hands-free device is portable and removable. The device activator creates the micro-pulses that promote enhanced teeth adjustment. Because of this action, you can wear your braces for a shorter time while achieving the same desired results.
Teeth realignment involves leveling and aligning teeth in different stages. Leveling involves moving teeth to the same height. Aligning encompasses moving teeth to the correct position on the arch.
Studies show that teeth leveling and aligning take an average of seven months. The device increases the rate of movement, even during leveling and alignment.
AcceleDent, however, reduces this time to around five months. That’s an average improvement of 30-percent.
Not only is AcceleDent treatment pain-free but using AcceleDent can also minimize the discomfort associated with scheduled adjustments.
Using the AcceleDent Hands-Free Device
Using AcceleDent is easy. Simply attach the mouthpiece to the activator.
Next, you’d turn on the activator. When you do, you should see the LED turn green.
Now, you can place the device in your mouth. As you do, bite down firmly to hold it in place. Also, it’s important to make sure that the mouthpiece contacts all sides of your teeth.
Do not use your hands to hold the device. Let it rest in place for 20 minutes.
While AcceleDent is working its magic, you’re free to do other things. For example, you can surf the internet or check your email. Alternatively, you might want to watch television.
In some cases, however, you may need to take a call. Here, you’ll need to exercise caution.
During treatment, you can only take a five-minute break. If you need to take a longer break, you’ll have to start the 20-minute process from the beginning.
As with your other orthodontic equipment, you’ll also need to care for your device. After each treatment, for example, you should rinse your AcceleDent device with warm water.
Occasionally, however, you’ll need to give it a more thorough cleaning. Every once in a while, gently brush your AcceleDent mouthpiece with toothpaste. Alternatively, you can use a mild soap or dish detergent.
It’s important to remember that AcceleDent is an electrically powered device. If you need to clean the activator, it’s important not to get it wet.
If you find that the activator needs cleaning, wipe it down with a damp cloth. However, make sure that water doesn’t get into the casing.
What About Doctor’s Visits?
AcceleDent will not decrease the number of times that you must visit the orthodontist. If, for example, your orthodontist prescribes traditional braces, you’d still visit their office every four to six weeks.
When using AcceleDent, it’s still important to attend your regular orthodontic visits. However, you’ll experience much faster changes between visits compared to an orthodontic patient who does not use the device.
For example, if you use the AcceleDent device with Invisalign aligners, you’ll need to change your aligners more frequently. However, you’ll experience little to no pain.
